In 3 days I leave for 4 weeks to go play some shows in Australia, Japan, America and the UK.

I’m taking two point and shoot cameras for video and maybe my old 7D. I will film some stuff here and there but I’m not planning on making anything substantial. However the one place I never really film is at the venue/during the show. That’s when I had an idea. I think it would be interesting to have a completely different perspective of the show, so I want to offer you the chance to film the day of the show however you want.

How it works.

You send me one video. It doesn’t have to be anything to do with music. I just want to see something you have made that shows me you are creative and have an eye for film making. Honestly I’m looking for something different, something weird. I’m not looking for someone to film the whole set, I’m more interested in maybe interviewing people at the show, b roll clips, hi-jinx, just capture some moments of the night in an interesting way. I don’t care how good your camera is or your skill level.

I will watch the videos submitted and if I like your video I will give you a plus one and a pass to the show to come and film the evening. At the end of the night I will get your footage and when the tour is over I will put together an edit.

I know this is very vague and kind of weird, but I think it could be really interesting.

Here are the dates, email me if with your video and the date you would be able to film. Oh yeah and please don’t be offended if I don’t email you back.

You are the hum of electric heat.

You are the hum of electric heat.

Back in March I flew out to Scranton last minute before SXSW and filmed this music video for Tigers Jaw. Thanks to everyone who put up with the freezing conditions and helped make the video possible.

Been a while

Been a while

My uncle John Poch is a poet, and for a while now he has been asking me to film some visuals for one of his new poems. I was meant to go out to Texas where he lives but it looks like it won’t happen until later this year. So I put a collection of clips together from my recent travels along with him reading the poem aloud. So check it out, and let me know what you think.

Home for Christmas

Home for Christmas

Last year I started working on a new video segment for Run For Cover called Off The Radar. The series will focus on creative people and ask them to recommend 5 things that you should check out. I thought it would be interesting to start a series that isn’t directly linked to music and showcase some great up and coming creative individuals.

The point of this series is to put you on to something different that you may not know about, be it a book, an artist, or even just an interesting product. As a creative person I love being recommended new artists or projects, so I am really passionate about this series and I hope you guys will enjoy it.

My weekend

My weekend

I Flew to SF in December to film a music video for Creative Adult. I always get nervous about working with people I have never met, but straight away we got on and I knew we were going to create something interesting.

Although there was no plan for a narrative, I watch it now and think it couldn’t easily be about a stalker or a voyeur, with the uneasy feeling of being watched. We kept the video very simple, so we bought some white paper and made a make shift studio in Mike’s garage. Then just lit it with a single LED light and an iPhone. I like the slight cinematic quality that come across in some of the shots. Let me know what you think.

A limited edition “Deep End” 7-inch is out 1/28 and their new record “Psychic Mess” is out 2/25, both on Run For Cover. So if this is your thing, check it out and support this band.
